点评：Chez Maman is hands down one of the highlights of our time in Champasak. It’s not just a boutique — it’s an experience, a window into the rich and diverse cultures of Laos. The moment you step in, you feel the difference: here, you find truly authentic items, handmade by talented people from villages all over the country. Nothing like the mass-produced souvenirs you see in Luang Prabang markets — these are genuine pieces of Laotian heritage.
The owners — a charming mother and son — are absolutely delightful. They welcomed us with such warmth and even offered us tea as we browsed and chatted. What really makes this place special is how much they know about the ethnic groups of Laos. You can tell they’ve traveled extensively through both the north and the south, visiting countless villages, learning and preserving stories, crafts, and traditions.
Talking with them was a real eye-opener. They shared fascinating details about the different communities, their textiles, their customs — things you’d never pick up in a guidebook. If you’re even a little bit curious about the incredible cultural diversity of Laos, this is the place to come.
