点评：I have visited the Artcatto Gallery in Loule for the last 12 years during my trips to Portugal. The owner, Gillian, has been highly successful in bringing outstanding Artists and Sculptors, with a variety of amazing styles from across the world to exhibit their creations, and return from time to time, in response to demand from the local community and holiday home owners alike.
I like the traditional and very popular, Jack Vettriano with his beach scenes; the beautiful and unusual bronze sculptures by Philip Jackson; the “smart” visual works of Pedro Guimarães, which show completely different images seen from different directions; and the 1950s style American cityscapes and cars, which are the fascination of Alain Bertrand. Then there are the larger-than-life elephants, donkeys, and ostriches in bright colours by Dom Pattinson, and the iconic creations of personalities like Jimi Hendrix, Marilyn Monroe, and my favourite painting of Mick Jagger by Voka.
Importing the artworks and organising the exhibitions is an intense and challenging business for Freddie, head of operations, to enable our viewing pleasure. Gallery visits are always rewarding, as they allow us to see art that is both loved and familiar, as well as some that is new and exciting, taking our appreciation to a new level.
