点评:Visited the village with my husband, and we were very excited about it since we hadn't planned the visit. We paid $70 USD just to get into the village, which was a bit expensive, but we were willing to make the "contribution." It all seemed like a very great experience, until we got to the souvenir shop. Our tour guide told us to not feel pressured to buy anything. We were willing to buy items though since they are "handcrafted" by the women in the village, but after reading a lot of these posts, it sounds like the stuff they sell there is stuff you can buy anywhere for a lot cheaper. We spent another $75 USD on a few items, which was crazy, but we felt a bit pressured. They didn't want to tell us pricing until the very end, but we kept insisting on them giving us the price because we only had so much cash with us. The chiefs son told us we could look at the items for purchase first, then go see the school. So I especially thought, well, if I don't buy something, can I not see the school? Anyway, we go into the school and the children immediately start singing when we walked in (very staged). They were so small and sweet, and I'm glad we got to see them and hear them sing, but we did feel very ripped off overall. Had I read about this village more before going, I would've not gone honestly. When we were walking out of the village back to the tour guide, they were already putting on another performance for the next tour group that showed up. I really do hope that the money they did get from us goes to something good. Since they survive off the land, it made me question what they would be using the cash for. Supposedly, the money helps them buy water during the dry season and fabric for clothing.
