点评:This was a terrible experience. We ask our guide to stop by the local Masai village because we were curious how they were adapting to the changes in society. We were near Ngorongoro and we recall the name of the chief Baracka. It was $50 just to enter the village. There was a dispassionate dance and a tour of one of the local dwellings. They pushed heavily for donations and at the end of the tour they asked my wife to pick out a few crafts on some of the tables that the women of the village had made. We asked how much each one cost, but the chief’s son kept deflecting, saying we would add up the total at the end. He then tried to charge $35 for trinket bracelets that other roadside merchants were selling for five dollars (and probably overvalued at that). So we tried to return some of the crafts because his grand total was $275! As American international travelers, we are very sensitive and try to be gracious so it was extremely uncomfortable when he would not let us leave and he kept pressuring us to buy these overinflated crafts in front of these women, staring at us. It was extremely uncomfortable. We traveled Uganda for gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking and the widespread kindness of the people there was amazing. Tanzania likewise was also amazing except for this terrible experience at the Masai village. I strongly recommend you pass by this village without stopping. It is a total scam. I wish we could give it zero stars.
