Another great viewpoint and this one comes with cats

点评：There are several great viewpoints easily accessible from the N1-1A as it snakes its way along the eastern coast of Sao Miguel and, although we preferred the Miradouro da Ponta do Sossego (further north towards Nordeste) for its stunning well tendered gardens, this one is well worth a short stop, especially for cat lovers.
Set around a central red clay area with plenty of BBQ spaces and a central shelter this is a typical Azorean BBQ Miradouro with lots of picnic tables set back in the surrounding grounds which, I imagine, is well utilised by the locals on a fine weather weekend. However, come here at lunchtime on a midweek day and you are likely to have it to yourself, even during August. Well, yourself and several cats, which are clearly looked after and lounge about in rude health.
This one also has the advantage of having public toilets.
