点评:On a cloudy day in March 2025 we went for a hike to the Elephant Caves. The guide was nice and the ranger kept watch in case we should meet any animals. The hike to the caves was not very strenuous, but the path to the waterfall was very steep and more demanding than I expected. There were rails in some places, but the other end of the rail was not attached to anything, so you had to be careful to take hold. Some steps were quite high, and in those places my husband helped me (we are in our 60's).
The views were beautiful. We didn't see any elephants, but we didn't really expect to. It would have been a treat if they happened to be there! The waterfall was pretty, but I have seen more impressive ones before. You have an opportunity to see lots of birds, if that interests you.
The only thing I was not too happy about was the rushed pace. The walk took us just under two hours, with stops at the caves and by the waterfall. Along the trail we didn't really have time to enjoy the sights and sounds, which was a shame. The nature there really would have been worth a mindful moment. I understand the importance of tips, they are essential to the guides, and maybe that is the reason they quick marched us through the path, so they can take the next group. So, the hike was worth it, but I wished we would have had more time.
