点评:There are good guides, there are great guides, and there is Said. He is by far, the best guide we’ve had (and we’ve been traveling and hiking with guides for decades!) From the minute you meet him, you just know you are in good hands. After ensuring that we were comfortable, we started the hike and were immediately struck by his knowledge, his never-ending curiosity, and sense of wonder about his world. Said knows the Ouirgane valley like the back of his hand and celebrates every turn, every view from a peak, every bird call. It was infectious! Our lunch with a Berber family was not only delicious, it was, for us, a chance to bond with strangers, laugh with the children, help (to the extent we are able) with the kitchen clean-up. The genuine welcome, the sharing of bread baking, the conversations that transcended language barriers – everything about that afternoon was a moving experience. Said made this all happen. Overall, the hike – which was part lesson in history, in botany, in zoology, in religion, in respecting others and living peacefully with nature and fellow human beings – was nothing short of life affirming.
