Such a Significant Mausoleum!

点评：We visited Suffolk to see this mausoleum to the Howard Dukes of Norfolk. They had lost Thetford Priory after the Dissolution of the Monasteries, so this became their resting place until the 4th Duke moved his principal seat to Arundel in Sussex. So there are not many buried here. But the magnificent tomb of Henry Howard and Frances de Vere, a daughter of John de Vere, 15th Earl of Oxford, displaying the Howard (left) and De Vere (right) families’ coats of arms is worth seeing. Their two sons and three daughters kneel at the foot and the head respectively of the painted alabaster tomb, which was restored in the 1970s.
In addition, Henry FitzRoy, Duke of Richmond and Somerset (1519–1536), an illegitimate son of Henry VIII by his mistress Elizabeth Blount, is also buried in the church in an ornate tomb. So Henry VIII knew that he could have sons!
