All-Outdoors California Whitewater Rafting的点评
点评：Spent a day on the middle fork of the American River with my company for a work bonding experience and it couldn’t have gone better.
It was an organized production from start to finish. Guides and boats were ready to go as soon as we assembled for our safety brief. We got our gear and hit the water without delay.
My guide, Wyatt, was on his second summer as a water rafting guide and knew what he was doing. He had us trained and ready for the rapids fairly quickly and maintained a calming presence throughout the trip, no matter how fast it felt like we were doing.
We stopped for lunch about half way through. The guides left fresh fruit and chips on the tables for us to snack on while they prepared the sandwich stations. Plenty of options and those with dietary options ate first. There was enough for everyone who wanted to get seconds. Definitely a better meal than I expected to have on the side of the river.
The second half of the day after lunch is when you start hitting the bigger rapids and they are a blast. Our guide made sure to keep us in the best position to navigate the hazards and we always felt safe in our raft. Wyatt did a great job to identify the names of rapids and give a quick spiel on where to go if you end up coming out of the boat. Everyone was always prepared but luckily we all stayed in the boat.
Through the trip there are slower areas on the river where folks can get out of the boat and take a little swim, but the water was a little too chilly for me this year. Lots of others enjoyed floating by the rafts though.
At the end, we were greeted by a boat the towed us the last small leg of the journey to our pull-out location in the Folsom lake. Busses were waiting to get us back to our cars where we launched from.
They had links to the photographers posted along the rivers and cold non-alcoholic refreshments waiting for us. We quickly cleaned and returned our gear and said our goodbyes.
I understand they have more technical routes for those more daring and experienced, but for a bunch of amateurs enjoying a day off work together this was the perfect route.
Travel Tips: have good shoes you don’t care about, a Sun shirt, and lots of sunscreen. Take a bottle of water and a small waterproof bags for your phone. There’s room to clip it in the boat. They have a key rack so you don’t have to worry about losing your keys in the river. Finally — be sure to tip your guides! A more seasoned rafter told me $10/per head the boat is a fairly standard tip and everyone on my boat was okay with that.
I strongly recommend All-Outdoors in you’re in the Sacramento area and looking for a rafting guide company.
