Worth a Visit, But Some Flags Need Attention
Afrikaans Language Monument的点评
点评:We spent about an hour on a lovely Sunday afternoon at the Afrikaans Language Monument and found it well worth the stop. The views from the top are stunning, and the monument itself is far more intricate and symbolic than it appears from a distance — definitely more to it once you're up close.
That said, one disappointing detail stood out - the flags. The monument flag was flying upside down, and when I raised it with the staff at the visitor centre, I was told that the flags aren’t raised and lowered daily — they’re just left up. So who knows how long it’s been like that. The smaller SA flag was also in really poor condition — tattered. A bit of a shame at a place meant to reflect national and cultural pride.
Still, an interesting visit and a beautiful setting — just let down slightly by something that should be easy to fix.
