点评:Visited several of the Sintra Palaces and this was my favourite. Only 15 mins from Sintra by car (we got an Uber) or there's a bus stop outside. Would absolutely recommend this fabulous place and hope to re-visit one day.
An unusual but attractive building, but once you enter its a real Wow! The Indian inspired interiors are so beautiful and dramatic and the stories about the property interesting. Even the kitchen was worth seeing. Outside, the botanical garden was gorgeous, very lush and green with lots of exotic plants. Its a real maze of a garden with steep paths in places. It had lots of different planting areas including a woodland area, rose/flower garden (which sadly was past its best), Mexican garden with lots of cacti and palms, lily pond and our favourite, the fern valley, which felt like entering a jungle. Its well worth heading into it to see the waterfalls, stepping stones at the top and most of all, the chapel ruin as that was amazing.
It's much quieter than the other main palaces as not on the tour party trail and we preferred it to Pena. There was a cafe and small shop (which wasn't open the day we went). The toilets are tucked around a corner just down the hill from the cafe in a more modern building (several people were trying to find them).
As with other palace gardens we visited, there's a QR code to download a map onto your phone, but many people were lost at all the properties, so may be worth printing out the map to bring with you.
