点评:A fun short stop along the journey. I don’t think I would go crazy out of the way just to only see the Moeraki Boulders. They are fun and interesting. However, depending on time of day could be very busy and you have to catch the tide. I thought mid tide was nice to get the waves around the rocks. Closer to a lower low tide, there are no waves around the rocks they are fully exposed. We went to the boulders twice, once in the evening at a higher mid tide and once in the morning at a close to low tide. In the evening closer to high tide, many of the boulders were still covered in water. The higher up boulders were fully visible. And the lower out boulders were half visible with a good bit of coverage from the waves. You would get wet to reach or stand on them. At lower tide, all of the boulders were visible and there already was no waves near any of them. There was still some water puddles around them to try to get reflections. If you look closely at the textures of the boulders, we saw many red lady bugs along them. We found staying for a little bit that there was times when no one or very few people were there. Tour groups tended to just be there for their quick snapshots and out again. So worth it to wait and see if it is crowded. We went in the later evening before sunset and in the mid morning. I found this stop enjoyable along with many other stops along the coast driving up from Dunedin. If I didn’t have interest in some of the other stops/area/Dunedin/etc I wouldn’t go all the way over just for the boulders.
