Three Mile Bend Recreation Area的点评
点评：We have enjoyed this off leash dog park for almost 9 years. It’s well treed, a great size and has good parking. It’s definitely Finn’s (our golden doodle’s ) happy place. Paved trails are looped and join the larger trail system so you have options for walking and biking. There are small ponds that do get blue algae as the summer progresses but there is always good access to the river if your dog likes to swim. You need control of your dog especially near the river as it can be dangerous, particularly when the ice is melting.
We go in all seasons to walk and picnic and we experience lovely encounters with all kinds of dogs and their owners. We have also enjoyed several moose and beaver sightings. It’s a great place for birds including eagles, osprey, woodpeckers, ducks and geese.
Downside? The park is a little rough around the edges and is in need of an upgrade. Pit toilets are run down and hard to use if you have mobility issues but they are cleaned regularly. There is no drinking water. Picnic tables are pretty worn out. There are a fair number of good benches when you want a break.
Overall, it’s a real gem. I congratulate the City of Red Deer for realizing that dog parks are well used people parks 365 days of the year. As such they are worthy of a decent land allocation.
