点评：My aunt and I enlisted the services of Select South Western Tours to take us around Devon to visit the villages and the churches where our ancestors were baptised, married and buried. Thanks to James we even found the farm where our farming ancestors lived. The current owners invited us inside and told us that the farmhouse itself is very ancient and was originally a medieval longhouse with an open hearth. The oak in the roof comes from a tree felled in the winter of 1347/48 which was the time of the Black Death. Fascinating!
I highly recommend James who went out of his way to make our trip a memorable one. He has a vast knowledge of the West Country and even told me some interesting facts about my “Cousin Jack” Cornish ancestors which wasn’t part of the itinerary. On the way back to the hotel we were entertained with some traditional Cornish songs which was a lovely ending to a lovely day.
