Avro Heritage Museum的点评
点评：A little gem of a museum. Fantastic cockpit tours and plenty to see.
Found the Avro Aviation Museum by accident whilst surfing the Internet and decided to check it out.
Visited with my teenage daughter and wasn't disappointed. First impression was amazement when greated by the Vulcan at the gate and 1000kg bomb in the carpark. The actual building itself appeared quite small. Paid £2 each for each of the four cockpit tours. These were spread out throughout the afternoon so was a bit concerned there wouldn't be enough to occupy the time between each tour.
Each tour took 20-30 minutes with just the two of us plus very knowledgeable and friendly tour guides. Didn't need to worry about hanging around between each tour as there was plenty to see as well as things we didn't have time to see.
Free flight simulator and submarine hunting station were popular so you need to get in early as they are first come first served. 3D virtual WW2 bombing raid experience is highly recommended. Total price for entry was a reasonable £9 for adult, £5 for 16 year old.
Checked reviews before hand and noticed people complaining about lack of aircraft and difficulty of finding it.
It is only a small site so can't expect the range of aircraft found at RAF Cosford but plenty to see and do. We travelled from Wrexham and had no problems finding the Museum, it's in the middle of a housing estate once you get off the main road but plenty of signs so I feel the criticism about finding the Museum is more of a reflection of others navigation skills.
Unable to comment on the cafe as we took our own food.
We spent 5 hours there and still didn't manage to see all of the exhibits.
Normally we visit RAF Cosford but this is an excellent alternative without all the crowds and feels much more personal.
Would highly recommend visiting and supporting this valuable historical asset.
