A very moving experience.
Elder Paisios' Tomb的点评
点评：The Holy Monastery of Saint John the Theologian at Souroti is about 25 minutes drive from Thessaloniki airport. It is an awe-inspiring, peaceful sanctuary for the faithful, beautifully maintained by the nuns who work so hard to maintain the Church, St Paisios’ gravesite and the beautiful gardens.
I should like to offer our grateful thanks to the sisters who welcomed us with warmth and made us feel part of this most moving, holy site. They kindly offer all pilgrims hospitality in the form of sweet Greek delights (loukoumia) and a cold glass of water. The small shop on site is stocked with books, icons and relevant memorabilia, at affordable prices. It is well worth a visit.
I want to raise awareness, if it is needed, on two issues:
Firstly, the climb from the car park to the Monastery is challenging, so you will need appropriate footwear. People with mobility difficulties may call ahead and ask for permission to be dropped off and picked up very near the entrance.
Secondly everyone, including children, must be dressed as befits a place of worship. The dress code is clearly detailed on the monastery’s website and, rightly so, will be implemented by the sisters, making no exceptions. It is up to each individual to dress with decorum and not the nuns’ duty to provide visitors with wraps to cover themselves up.
