Amazing wildlife spotting, specifically of the wombat
Bendeela Camping and Picnic Area的点评
点评:We visited as part of a tour and arrived late in the afternoon for wildlife spotting. The campground was calm and the surrounding countryside peaceful. We spotted a mob of kangaroo as we drove towards the campground proper. We stood at the perimeter fence and looked out. We didn’t have to actually stay at the fence to find kangaroo; some had crossed the fence to feed on the campground grass. Outside the perimeter we watched an echidna rooting around; it never stuck its head up before disappearing into the undergrowth.
The wildlife stars here were the bare-nosed wombats. They displayed no fear of humans and their tents or vehicles. We got to see one emerge from its burrow that opened up onto the campsite itself. They fairly trotted directly towards their desired dining spot for that evening, ducking under vehicles, running right past campers, and finally settled done at their chosen grazing spot. Naturally and unfortunately this meant the wombats were inevitably surrounded by visitors. Such was their focus on feeding and their lack of fear of humans that they did not appear overtly disturbed by the proximate presence of people.
We had been told that we would see wombats at Kangaroo Valley and this campsite was the perfect spot to do so.
