点评:Church of St. Catherine is one of the most magnificent churches in Bethlehem. A humble cave where Saint Jerome would have lived. His remains were buried here until they were transferred to Rome. With over 1,500 years of history, it is renowned for its stunning blend of early Christian, Romanesque, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture.
Mary Major (in Italian, Santa Maria Maggiore), one of the five great ancient basilicas in Rome, and the place where the late pontiff chose to be entombed. I was very surprised when I found out that my favorite saint is enshrined at this holy site. Saint Jerome had died in Bethlehem and was buried under the Church of the Nativity, but his body later was moved to St. Mary Major in Rome. Saint Jerome died in Bethlehem, and the remains of his body now lie buried in the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome. Tradition says his body was moved with the manger to St. Mary Major, but the exact location has been lost to time; he's probably somewhere near the altar dedicated to him. The basilica is also an important pilgrimage site and houses several sacred relics, making it a place of great historical and religious significance. Despite its importance, it often feels quieter than some of Rome's other famous landmarks, allowing visitors to fully appreciate its beauty. One of my favorite saints is Jerome, AKA Saint Hieronymous. Why? Because he befriended a lion in the wilderness–or at least so the legend goes. According to legend, St. Jerome once met a lion with a thorn in its paw and took pity on it. He removed the thorn for the suffering animal, who became his devoted companion. As a token of gratitude, the lion decided to become the constant companion of the saint. After some time, Saint Jerome fell ill. He grew worse day by day and died. The lion too lay near the place where his friend and master was buried, refused to eat and guarded the tomb of his master till death came to him. To honor Saint Jerome feast day I feasted on "Holy Trinity" stuffed shells. This ground beef stuffed shells recipe is a hearty meal of flavorful ground beef, tasty tomato sauce, and three cheeses. Stuffed jumbo shells topped with mozzarella are perfect for celebrating Saint Jerome and the Lion! This heartwarming stuffed shells combine the richness of ground beef with the creaminess of ricotta cheese for a tasty meal satisfying for a lion. I had a memorable leonine journey of FAITH!
