Chapelle Saint-Bernardin的点评
点评：This richly decorated chapel is located on a small street in the heart of Old Town. It is named for a 14th century saint, Bernardin Albizeschi, who was the Vicar General for the Franciscan order.
Notable features are its side door on Rue Saint-Bernardin which is made of solid walnut. It dates from 1581.
It contains three statues which represent Saint Roch, Saint Sébastien and Saint Bernardin de Sienne. The ceilings on the sides are painted in starry ultramarine blue.
The altar is adorned with four twisted gilt wooden columns in a baroque style, and is embellished with Acanthus leaves.
Above the door facing Rue Rostan, you can see Lucifer represented as a terrifying winged dragon with a tail and huge with long, sharp claws. He reigns over three worlds: underground, earth and sky. The dragon twists and roars at the foot of the cross, beaten down by saints and protective angels.
In the vaulted room below the chapel you will find a reproduction of a painting by Painter Antoine Aundi, “La descente de la croix” (The Descent of the Cross). There are also some remnants of frescoes.
