Zechariah and Elizabeth Church的点评
点评：One of the most exquisitely decorated churches I’ve ever seen! Exceptional work of art!
Reminded me of the Smolny cathedral in St.Petersburg.
Indeed, the local church authority site says that the design was sent directly from the capital and belongs to an architect close to the famous Bartolomeo Rastrelli circle.
By the way, the official name is The Church of Resurrection, while Zechariah and Elizabeth is the traditional name after one of the aisles.
The church is spacious - two floors, but honestly, there is not much to see inside.
On the contrary, I spent a lot of time on the Bazaar square taking pictures of this church from various points.
A bit aside you’ll see a statue of a man holding a little bird in his hand. This is composer Alexander Alyabyev, mostly known for his charming ‘Nightingale’. He was born in Tobolsk and returned here as an exile on trumped-up charges, signed to this church parish.
