点评：We had the most incredible time at Lake Lascelles in Hopetoun over Christmas and New Year’s! It’s an absolute gem of a place, perfect for families. We spent our days fishing, skiing, swimming in the lake, and cooling off at the local pool. The atmosphere was amazing, and it’s no wonder it was so busy.
We camped in one of the non-powered sites and happily donated $10 per night. While some people consider it free camping, it’s important to recognize the value of the facilities and the effort that goes into maintaining this spot. For powered sites, it’s just $30 per night, which is a bargain—though they book out quickly, so plan ahead!
The toilets and showers were impressively clean, especially considering the number of visitors. Knowing this is all managed by volunteers makes it even more remarkable. Let’s support their efforts by contributing to keep this place thriving for everyone to enjoy.
We enjoyed cold beers and great meals at the local pub, which added to the holiday experience. Strolling through the streets in the early morning before the heat set in, grabbing a coffee from the bakery or one of the cafés, and shopping at the newsagency and local stores was such a treat. Supporting these small businesses is so important to help keep them alive for future visitors and the community.
There’s no shortage of activities here! The town boasts tennis courts, bowling greens, a golf course, and so much more. For those who love adventure, the cooler months are perfect for exploring the 4WD tracks in Wyperfeld National Park nearby.
We were lucky enough to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the lake, an event brilliantly organized by the community. It was a fantastic night full of life and energy—huge kudos to everyone involved!
I’ve heard Easter is another peak time here, and I can’t wait to return. Lake Lascelles is a must-visit destination, and it’s thanks to the hardworking volunteers and the welcoming local community that it remains such a special place.
