点评:We were supposed to go snorkeling at Makena Cove but my husband ignored the turn and parked (and paid!) at the state park. It's a hike to the cove from there. But my kids decided they liked the look of it and we stayed. Hardly anyone there. One of the least populated beaches that we've seen in Maui.
The sand is like brown sugar. The water is clear. The views are beautiful. But there is no shade and if you aren't an experienced swimmer, this could make you nervous.
That's what my kids liked about it...actual waves! We go to a beach on the Atlantic that has rougher waves and we love it that way. If you aren't used to surfing/boogie boarding/wave jumping, this could scare you. And if you don't know how to fight a current or what a riptide is, don't get in. There are no lifeguards to rescue you.
We didn't find the waves scary at all until my 14-year-old started to get pulled out. It was only for a few seconds but it scared her older brothers enough that they wanted her to get out.
