点评:We’ve done numerous 3-day trails in Kruger over the past six years, and this was our second time at Bushmans. The 2024 experience was fantastic, but unfortunately, this year was disappointing. Here’s why:
Rangers Make a Big Difference:
Last year, Nicol and Obi were exceptional guides. Nicol was outstanding—ask to be assigned to him! Obi was friendly and knowledgeable, though quiet.
This year (April 2025), we had Oris and Obi. Oris (the main ranger) was unpleasant from the start—unfriendly, bored, and uninterested throughout the trip. He didn’t seem enthusiastic or put much effort into guiding, despite being knowledgeable.
Poor Communication & Maintenance:
During dinner Oris mentioned that bungalow no. 2 has no hot water—if we’d known earlier, my husband and I would have stayed there, and gave our guests the bungalow with hot water. The issue wasn’t fixed during our stay, causing dissatisfaction. (Tip: be sure to ask about issues in the bungalows, before assigning rooms).
Missing Juice & Room Issues:
They forgot to bring juice on the morning walk (part of the bush breakfast).
Elson, the camp chef and cleaner, didn’t clean our rooms—something that’s usually standard. We couldn’t do it ourselves in the dark, and the door of bungalow no. 4 stuck, which he knew from last year.
Food & Comfort:
Evening meals were minimal. Other camps give more than enough food. (Tip: if there’s leftover bread from brunch, ask the chef to dish it up in the evening again). The pillows inside were very dirty and moldy (bring your own), and towels are thin and old (bring an extra towel).
Lack of Campfire:
Unlike other camps, Bushmans didn’t have a fire going in the evenings. I had to ask on the last night—make sure to request this if you want to sit by the fire.
Conclusion:
Based on this experience, I won’t be returning to Bushmans.
Tip: Email ahead and ask who your guides will be—they can make all the difference.
