Line 11, the circle line, is now open

点评：On New Year’s Day I walked around the corner to ogle the newly opened DaJinZhong Lu line 11 metro station (TA review for FengNian MeiShi Jie) and wondered when we’d use it. Well, the next day we needed to go to the bank, and even though it would only be one stop to GuangZhou University of Chinese Medicine, we decided to use it.
Line 11 is very much like London’s Circle line, with nearly every station linking with another line. Line 11 will, when the stations are completed, link Guangzhou Main Rail Station directly to Guangzhou East Rail Station, which both have lines to Canton Airport.
There is an outer and an inner line, the outer running anticlockwise while the inner line trains run clockwise. Just remember to use a 2025 map which shows all the lines. In 2026, line 12 is expected to open.
Note, there are plenty of signs and information is English.
I must admit there weren’t many passengers at the stations, but the train we caught was full of old people taking advantage of their free travel cards.
Of course, we’ll be using it more especially to explore Guangzhou.
