点评：This walk has many routes to it, however, the main ones are either a 10km route or a 17km route. The views and the surrounding area are exactly what you want on a walk, fresh air and green spaces with rolling hills and the rivers to marvel at too.
I am amazed that there are people on here who have slated this walk, DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM.
I won't lie, there are two parts to the 10km route that have you going down some steep steps into woodland and then climbing up an incline towards the end of the route. These are no more than a minute or two to traverse. The Tolkein trail is not some interactive trail where individuals dressed as Lord of The Rings characters greet you along the walk, the trail is where Tolkein himself took many inspirations from the Ribble Valley area for elements in his books. The trail starts from the Shireburns Arms hotel where he was known to drink and the landowning family from his days were called the Shireburns where he took inspiration from their name for his books and the surrounding landscape for the setting of the Shire and it's place names.
There are fenced off parts of the route, small parts of the route however, obviously there to keep people off of private land. So yes, there are some narrow elements at times but nothing as dramatic as some people complaining on here make out.
Whatever inspiration you take from the route, it is certainly worth a visit and having a pint or two in the Shireburn Arms afterwards is very much worth a visit.
