D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum的点评
点评：Had no idea this place was in the area and found it by accident. Such a shame it doesn't get more exposure locally. I am barely 20 miles away and had never known it even existed. I am not particularly interested in literary history to be honest but do like to visit museums in general.
I have not been to Eastwood before and there is no reason to go back. It is a small place and not the most aesthetically pleasing; however, it is worth parking up for a short time and paying this museum a visit.
We parked in the Sun Inn car park which is opposite Morrisons in the middle of the one way loop. Cross the road on the left and you will see signs and a metal gate and you are nearly there.
Staff in the museum so friendly and helpful. Entrance price I thought was reasonable.
The visit is self guided, so you can wander around at your own leisure. The museum staff take you up the first flight of stairs to watch a short video (10 mins?) about Lawrence and then it is self guided after.
There is a small exhibition room which includes Lawrence's old suitcase and headstone from his grave in France amongst other things. Then you have a few bedrooms, attic and living & dining room and an outside bit with a washroom and grassy picnic area. All very compact.
There is one toilet at the top of the first set of stairs and other toilets in the outside part.
There is a decent spaced gift shop too. We spent about 45 minutes here.
The D H Lawrence birthplace & museum is a fantastically atmospheric and enjoyable place to pass an hour or so if passing through and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
