Mont du Lac Resort的点评
点评：My family wanted to go on a last-minute vacation, so we found a nice-looking resort and booked a room. The page for the room we wanted to reserve claimed "Room Details: This room is ideal for a single night or prolonged getaway, equipped with everything a modern traveler needs for a great stay, including free toiletries, feather-soft linen, a full private bathroom, a TV, and more." It sounded great and wasn't too much more expensive than one of the other hotels we'd considered. We should have gone with the other option.
There was an initial reservation, an additional fee for booking the room, and later I saw on the email bill yet another resort charge. None of the extra fees were mentioned online OR on the call to complete the reservation.
We made the long drive and arrived to find the room:
- had no private bathroom, only a shared porta-potty outside by the other cabins.
- no heat in the room, except by fire. While we were given a small cord of wood, we had no way to light a fire.
- not even running water to clean up sticky fingers after a snack.
- one bed had a light blanket on, not soft or luxurious by any means. The rest were not made.
- the one bed that was made had a dead fly on top of the blanket.
- additionally, the cabin photo shared online wasn't what the cabin looked like.
The driveway to get to the rooms was incredibly steep, and the turn-off was poorly marked, so when we drove a bit too far and needed to back up, the sheer slope of the driveway made the car roll backward.
A family member on the trip has difficulty walking, making an outdoor porta-potty very difficult to use. Also, with how cold it got and having no way to start a fire (or have one each night of our stay), it would be far too cold with the light blankets they had on the one bed that was made.
It looked like it was maybe a beautiful property, but not being properly prepared for the stay left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
Tips:
- Make sure you know what you're getting. Look at their website to KNOW what you're getting before you ever book lodging.
- Know that you will not get a refund if anything goes wrong. You'll also find extra charges on your card that were not mentioned.
- If you don't like roughing it or camping (especially in MN winters), go somewhere else.
- Pack everything you may need for your stay - water, food, bedding, heating, and the kitchen sink.
- Don't expect help from workers.
The only thing good about this was the view from the cabin. And that we left very quickly.
