Werribee’s best kept secret
Werribee South Beach的点评
点评：After recently moving to Werribee, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this lovely stretch of coastline. I have been visiting once a week while the weather has been pleasant.
Pros:
- Very quiet! Unlike most beaches in Melbourne you don’t have to fight for a sliver of sand, or deal with obnoxious people, there’s always plenty of space.
- Clean sand that is raked regularly
- Beautiful pine trees lining the road
- A paved walking path
- proximity to Wyndham harbour for an ice cream or drink at the local container bar 3030 Boulevard
- large grassed area for games or picnics
- Beautiful views of the bay
Cons:
- There is a giant sand bar along the entire stretch of coast here so the water is very shallow quite far out (can be a pro for people with kids though!)
- the sand in the water is a bit weird with sludgy bits and dirt in parts. I also noticed in one section there is a layer of fine black gravel a few centimetres under the sand.
- The water can be perturbed and so sometimes looks brown, the water is still clean but looks unappealing to some.
- Currently a lack of facilities such as showers, shops and BBQ’s (there is a small toilet block, playground and milk bar directly across the road though)
- Lack of shaded areas
Overall a really great remote, natural feeling beach worth a look. The council has plans to develop the area so will be ‘nicer’ in the future but for now it’s still worth spending time and enjoying it while it’s still quiet!
