点评:Amazing! Call ahead! The 16 college students in my Rainforest Connected class had a GREAT experience at this family run outfit! Pompi III gave us an informative lecture with Q&A in English alongside a video. He is the third generation of Pompilios to work in Herpetology rehabilitation and education. They receive snakes and reptiles captured by police while also being on call with the firemen to help intervene when families call in about snake emergencies. Deadly Fer-de-lance, Bushmaster and Coral Snakes are common in the area, so he gets a couple calls a week. He expertly handled the biggest snapping turtle I'd ever seen, must have been 40 kilos (Central American Snapping Turtle (Chelydra rossignonii)) and also placed a dazzlingly beautiful yellow Eyelash Palm Pit Viper (Bothriechis schlegelii) on a fern so that we could talk about its ecology and conservation status. Amazing!
