A magnificent museum somewhere deep in Russia
Museum Filimonovskaya Toy的点评
点评：We traveled to Odoyev, a town which is situated about 80 kilometers southwest of Tula, in the end of May. The Museum of Filimonovo Toys was the main reason to drive there.
It was almost midday when we arrived in that sleepy municipality and we quickly located what we were looking for. Since we'd scheduled the appointment far in advance, the staff waited for us.
A friendly knowledgeable lady gave a private tour of the facility (in Russian). It nestled in a small modest house, but the collection of toys was truly amazing. I can't claim to know much 'bout Filimonovo toys, so I was simply astounded by what I saw. Pure folk-art masterpieces!
After the tour, we practically went on a shopping spree at their beautiful gift stall. It was just impossible to resist those many colorful, hilarious ceramic bric-a-brac!
Well worth the visit. Don't hesitate to go there!
Across the street is Karl Marx, a decent restaurant. We had lunch there and enjoyed it.
Parking is not a problem in Odoyev. Anywhere and for free.
