点评：Avoid the Terry Hie Hie Road from Moree to Tamworth – Not Caravan Friendly
We recently travelled from Moree to Tamworth via Terry Hie Hie, following Google Maps' recommendation as the "fastest route." Big mistake.
Despite appearing direct, this route includes long unsealed sections that are severely corrugated, full of potholes, and have very narrow floodways. It is absolutely not suitable for caravans, trailers, or trucks. We were towing a van and found several sections unsafe and stressful to navigate, especially when meeting oncoming traffic.
This route actually took us longer than the safer, sealed alternatives (via Narrabri or Gunnedah) and felt far more risky. It's also very isolated — no services, poor shoulders, and little room for error.
If you're towing or in a larger vehicle, do yourself a favour and avoid this road altogether. Take the slightly longer, fully sealed route via Narrabri–Gunnedah–Tamworth instead. Much smoother, safer, and more enjoyable.
