点评：Perfect Family Adventure with Our Elderly Dog – A Unique and Relaxing Getaway
We chose this type of holiday because we have a very old dog and two children (13 & 15), and we were looking for something that would suit us all. This canal boat break ticked so many boxes!
Our dog could be with us at all times, which gave us peace of mind. The kids loved helping out with the locks and lift bridges and spent plenty of time fishing from the boat. I managed to run every day along the canal paths – some sections were better maintained than others, but it was a great way to start each morning. My husband enjoyed the peace and quiet at the helm, steering the longboat and soaking in the tranquil surroundings.
We chose Cobbs Wren, a 45-foot boat – one of the smaller options – perfect for our first canal boat adventure. It had everything we needed:
A fully equipped kitchen with gas hob, oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, utensils, and pans.
Plates, bowls, tea towels, oven gloves, and even eco-friendly cleaning products to protect the waterways.
Bedding and towels were provided, along with shower gel, shampoo, and hand soap.
The bathroom had a toilet, shower, and sink.
Sleeping arrangements included twin beds (already made up) and a double bed that converted from the dining area each night.
The boat also had Wi-Fi, a radio, and a TV.
We hired the boat for 7 days and travelled up into Wales, crossing stunning aqueducts and arriving in picturesque Llangollen before returning to Wrenbury Marina. We spent quality time as a family, embraced the beautiful scenery, and enjoyed plenty of fresh air.
This was a memorable and unique holiday that allowed us all – dog included – to slow down, reconnect, and explore at our own pace. Highly recommend it for families, first-timers, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape!
